Zinc ash is one of the main side products of the hot-dip galvanizing process. Due to the nature of its formation and extraction from the zinc bath, it contains a considerable amount of valuable zinc metal inside.

ANI Metal’s Zinc Ash Recovery Furnace “Zimelter” has been designed and engineered to reclaim zinc from zinc ash, which can be re-added to the galvanizing batch in a calculated schedule. Considering that zinc always constitutes the largest consumable cost item in a galvanizing plant, recovering zinc from a process waste is a viable contributor to a plant’s economy.

With the Zimelter, 95% of the metallic zinc inside the zinc ash is recovered. It easily processes crude, untreated zinc ash. The ash obtained from the zinc bath, through the Zimelter, yields 98.5% – 99% purity zinc.

The Zimelter completes the processing of one batch (600kg max.) of zinc ash in 3 hours, with a zinc yield of 50-55%. Natural gas and diesel are available as energy options.

The Zimelter features automatic control via its control panel, giving way to ease of operation, and is designed such that the molten zinc is safely cast into the moulds.
